Technology

Southern Sung was a maritime society. The Junk, a trading ship, was created and highly used for trading. Gunpowder, Pottery, Procelain with celadon glaze are some of the things we used.

Culture

Because of the hostilities found on land, Southern Sung became a maritime society, boosting the shipbuilding business. We increased the education to use the literature advancement left from the Tang Dynasty. Our government positions were based on exams over teh teachings of Confucious. We had a weak military in fear of rebellion from power hungry generals. We had deal with attacks from barbarian and small nations with treaties that gave tributes. We quickly turned bankrupt.

Religion

It was here that Neo - Confucianism came about. It was thought up by Chu Hsi, who combined three religions from the Tang Dynasty. The studying of Confucious made a person better education and fit for a high ranking government job.

Blog Entry 1:

Our current leader, Wang An-Shih , gave land to us farmers. He took land from the rich, and focused on giving it to us. He felt that it was the poor, the huge population of the poor farmers could support the population. He gave us farmers land so that we could make food available for every one.

The high class individual really enjoy this empire. This empire was built for sophistication and social organization. The competiveness of the government position assures the fact that we will receive the best qualified individual.

Blog Entry 3:

It was hard with all the fighting around us. The Mongols, Western Xia, and the Jin were constantly fighting for land. It would have been perfect for us to expand with all that instability, but we stayed out of it. Jin had taken Western Xia and we were constantly on the defensive. When we allied with the Mongols, we did not expect them to come after us after all the fighting.
